When We Cannot Come to Church

"Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.”Genesis 2:3 NKJV

For Christians, it is very natural to go to church every Sunday. Hearing a good message and worshiping the Lord together are meaningful to us.

However, it is sad that sometimes we think of visiting church as an obligation. God wants us to come forward willingly; being forced is not what He desires.

Also, there are some days or seasons when we cannot come to church. Sometimes we want to avoid conversations or even run away from God.

According to the Bible, God made Sunday a holy day. As I reflect on this fact, I wonder if I seek God with all my heart.

I used to hesitate going to church regularly because I was afraid of people’s judgements. Sometimes I even felt glad and relieved when urgent errands came up on Sundays. I’m introvert so I naturally prefer spending restful weekends alone.

I still need to learn how to step out of my comfort zone, and also accept who I am because I’m not a perfect Christian — but I’ve started thinking there are many ways to worship God.

Even if we miss visiting church on Sundays, we can still worship our Savior. I’m not saying that going to church isn’t important, but I want to encourage you not to loose your heart.

So, please don’t disqualify yourself if you can’t make it; your relationship with God is personal and He just wants your heart. As long as you seek His kingdom, I’m sure he will keep giving you great opportunities.
