The Courage to Face Something New

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
      II Corinthians 5:17 NKJV

I often find myself looking back on my past, thinking about my previous mistakes and wondering about what could have been.

For example, one of my regrets is not going to university. It’s not just about getting a degree — I truly wanted to learn new things and make friends there.

As a student, I didn’t study enough, often using my mental illness as an excuse. I also didn’t face my life head-on because I believed I wouldn’t succeed at university just as I struggled in high school.

I realize that even when we trust Jesus, we sometimes still live with the consequences of our choices. However, the Bible says that old things have passed away, and everything is made new.

When I pray, I ask God if I might have the chance to study at university one day. Since I have to work, it would need to be a correspondence course — but I truly want to learn more about writing. I feel hopeful that I can do anything now because in Christ, I am new.
